Show Recap for 8/12/08
"Such a tragedy befalls upon a person when he realizes that an opportunity of a lifetime has passed him by. I, myself, have realized that there is only so far a person can go in life in a dreaming state. I watched RNO from Paris tonight for the first time and was in a state of bewilderment and awe. I, like RNO, caught the film bug and enrolled myself in Full Sail Real World Education in hopes to pursue a degree in film production. I graduated two years ago and am still wondering what is out there for me to accomplish with a newly framed sheep skin. I joined JTV only three weeks ago and already I am an addict. Aside from a job which holds no emotional bearing for me, JTV is what drives me closer to my passion. That passion is to spread joy and love into the hearts of viewers through creativity and originality. Spread the love. A segment popularized by RNO himself where he’ll enter randomly requested channels in order to spike up viewers, and to get a little kick out of the audience. Although the popular vote suggested the first channel raid was a failure, the second was surely a success. RNO raided a broadcaster named tkbstudd and in doing so lit up not only his channel, but his tkbstudd's as well. Some well placed music highlighted the atmosphere of the room, and not only RNO and tkbstudd danced, but the audience as well. Another segment of the show tonight was the music trivia. I ALMOST WON! HAHA. Upon first glance, RNO seems to have only a wide array of musical knowledge, but little do some first time viewers know that he has film knowledge as well. He was able to incorporate both of these aspects by challenging the audience to some movie score knowledge. Who has ever heard of Hanz Zimmer or Danny Elfman? Unless you are a film and music lover not many I am sure. I was taught in film school geekdom that sound is one of the most important aspects in the production of a successful movie. Without sound we are all just a bunch of Charlie Chaplins. Successful, yes, but outdated. Today’s audience needs all of their senses enhanced and if an usher were able to bring you food and beverages mirroring the film you are watching then this would be capable. For the hour and a half RNO was broadcasting I had an epiphany. With the success of random videos on YouTube, it seems the internet will eventually become the new medium for entertainment. Face it, you can do anything, see anything, buy anything, and love anything through the pixels emitting from a computer screen. Computers, and the internet, have evolved quicker than any other means of technology that I can personally think of. I could be wrong. Please argue with me on that issue. My point is, and this is just a prediction, in the next five to ten years we will be seeing a whole new way of media frenzy. We are all the pioneers into a new generation of living and breathing what is called the internet. With as much piracy and copyright issues the internet is having, film and music, in the tangible sense, will slowly cease to exist in due time. Everything will be available at our fingertips and as easy to obtain as a click of a mouse. RNO is someone who has opened a door into his future, my future, and your future with his weekly shows. Nowhere else on a live broadcast can you find a regular Joe, or I should say, regular Jean Claude, have as much creativity and originality. First time watchers gazed while RNO literally lit himself up at the end of the broadcast. Using webcam media not yet widely discovered he was able to bring down the house, dancing and grooving to the beat of his own drum. Or that of Daft Punk. A plethora of oohs and ahhs flooded the scene. Where was I during all of this? Slowly awakening from a dream and coming into the reality of what is yet to come."
